The passing of Janie Norma Grooms, age 73, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Princeton, Kentucky, has been announced with deep sorrow. She died on April 16, 2026, at University of Kentucky Medical Center following a courageous journey through health challenges.
Born on November 12, 1952, to the late Mildred Frazier Grooms and Ulas Lee Grooms, Janie was raised in Princeton, where she attended Caldwell County High School. Her early life laid the foundation for a future defined by resilience and service.
Janie proudly served her country in the United States Army, reflecting her lifelong dedication to helping others. After her military service, she worked at an accounting firm in San Francisco, California. Even in retirement, she continued to give back, volunteering with organizations supporting veterans, service members, and their families.
She will be remembered for her warm personality, quick humor, and enduring strength. Despite facing serious challenges, including cancer, Janie remained resilient and maintained a spirit that uplifted those around her.
Janie is survived by her daughters, LaTonya Grooms and Dionne Grooms; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers, James, Billy Joe, and Jackie Grooms; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She is reunited with her parents and siblings who preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Janie Norma Grooms’ life stands as a testament to strength, service, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
