Marie S. Kerslake, Death, Obituary: Devoted Mother and Grandmother Remembered for Strength, Work Ethic and Loving Family Traditions in Stamford, CT
Marie S. Kerslake passed away on April 8, 2026, in Stamford, Connecticut, at the age of 84 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 26, 1942, in Mount Kisco, New York, to James and Fannie Pasquale, Marie built a life defined by resilience, dedication, and deep love for her family.
After marrying her late husband, Martin Kerslake, she settled in Greenwich, Connecticut, where they shared a long and loving marriage until his passing in 1999. Marie remained devoted to the life and family they built together, carrying forward traditions that created lasting memories for generations.
She was known for her kindness, generosity, and tireless spirit. Marie’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandson were at the center of her world. She took great pride in family gatherings, especially during the holidays, where her beautifully arranged tables and cherished decorations brought warmth and joy to everyone who visited her home.
Marie’s strong work ethic was evident throughout her life. Even into her 80s, she remained active—continuing to work until age 82 while also maintaining her home, from landscaping to shoveling snow. Her energy, determination, and “can-do” attitude left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
In addition to her devotion to family, Marie enjoyed watching sports, reality television, and listening to music. She was a loyal fan of the New York Mets and the New York Giants, and her musical taste spanned generations, from Elvis Presley to contemporary artists.
She is survived by her daughters, Debra DeMarkey (Matt), Lori Conner (Drew), and Carol Scher; her grandchildren Matthew DeMarkey, Rachel Leone (Chris), Jessica Scher, Fox Conner, and Robert Conner; and her great-grandson Anthony, whose arrival in 2024 brought her immense joy. She also leaves behind her sister Josephine, brother Jimmy, and extended family members she cherished deeply.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Martin, her parents, and other beloved family members.
Visitation will be held on April 23 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Leo P. Gallagher & Sons Funeral Home in Greenwich, followed by a Mass of Christian burial on April 24 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery immediately after the service.
Marie S. Kerslake will be remembered for her strength, unwavering dedication, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the memories she helped create.
