Zaire Usher-Evans, a 21-year-old resident of Franklin, has tragically died after sustaining gunshot wounds in the early hours of April 19, 2026.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred around 2:02 a.m. on Bruce Street. Emergency responders transported Usher-Evans to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where medical personnel worked to save his life. Despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The incident is being investigated as a homicide by the Franklin Police Department, in coordination with the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office and the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
